Smoky BBQ baked beans in a cast iron pot

Backyard Brunk Baked Beans

Category: Sides  |  Method: Grill/Smoker (Cast Iron Pot)  |  Prep: 10 min  |  Cook: 45 min  |  Total: 55 min  |  Serves: 6-8

Baked beans are the side that ties a whole cookout spread together — sweet, smoky, a little tangy. Letting them simmer in a cast iron pot right on the grill picks up real smoke flavor, and a couple spoonfuls of Brunk Black Blend gives them the same peppery backbone as our BBQ rub.

Ingredients

  • 4 strips bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cans (28 oz total) navy or pork and beans
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 Tbsp yellow mustard

Brunk Seasoning Used

Instructions

  1. Render the bacon. In a cast iron pot set on the grill over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Add onion and soften, 3-4 minutes.
  2. Combine. Stir in the beans, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, mustard, and Brunk Black Blend.
  3. Smoke and simmer. Close the grill lid and let the beans simmer 40-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and bubbling.
  4. Serve. Pull the pot straight off the grill and set it right on the table alongside your mains.

Don't just season it. Brunk it. 🔥
